For his newest venture, former “Top Chef: Las Vegas” contestant and long-time Atlanta Chef Eli Kirshtein has teamed up with ai3 to create The Luminary at Krog Street Market, an American brasserie and raw bar located in Inman Park. The Luminary is an inspirational intersection where food, drink and history come together. The name is a reference to Atlanta’s first newspaper, “The Luminary” which started around 1840. As such, The Luminary is steeped in vintage elements, beginning with the gold etched logo, brass light fixtures, white subway tile and rows of bentwood chairs and barstools.
The space is casual, clean and light with a palette that is rooted in bright white with brass accents, glass and mirrors. It’s also a modular, flexible space that adapts easily to accommodate large parties or lively and diverse happy hour crowds. The Luminary consists of a long rectangular space with booths and tables along the public facing side and a long bar flanking the opposite side. The bar is extensive and split evenly between space for cocktails and space for oyster shucking. A dramatic cluster of glowing “pearl” lights brightens the raw bar from overhead. Meanwhile the cocktail bar is more intimate with a long row of clear incandescent bulbs lighting the scene.
